The spacer is first fitted to the pin using a quick setting epoxy glue, to ensure a good marriage the spacer should be held in place. I used an 8mm nut and screwed it down the pin to the spacer ensuring that there was no glue on the pin or the spacer  which would have formed a bond

Shanked up on a stripped Holly shank, the spacer  was a piece of Bog Oak to provide a contrast.

Finished with different breeds of pigs drawn and painted down the shank.

Another stick with a Buffalo horn spacer  and a fumed Ash shank
