As with all his carvings Ned used brass

and copper tubing to highlight the

eyes of the fish, birds and animals. Both

he and George Snaith took a great deal

of care in carving the shanks

so that they  complemented the head

Ned’s other stick  is an Brown Trout with carvings

down the shank, in the photograph you can see

an Otter with a Brown Trout in its mouth, below that

is a Kingfisher with a Minnow in its beak and at the

bottom is a heron with an  Eel . Below I have tried to

show The skill of the carver by  joining several

photographs.
